Martha Thomas’ prolific run in the UEFA EURO 2025 qualifying campaign continued on Tuesday evening as Scotland’s 5-0 aggregate win over Anna Csiki’s Hungary secured their place in the final round of the play-offs.
Just after the hour mark in Edinburgh, Kirsty Hanson’s effort from the edge of the box was deflected into the path of Martha, who took one touch before calmly slotting the ball into the bottom left corner.
Our number 17 went on to complete 85 minutes for Pedro Martinez Losa’s side, while Anna started for Hungary on the night before being substituted midway through the second half.
Scotland will now face Olga Ahtinen’s and Eveliina Summanen’s Finland in the final qualifying round of play-offs for next summer’s EURO 2025, leaving them two games away from their first major tournament since 2019.
Eveliina started and completed 90 minutes in Finland’s 5-0 win over Montenegro – 6-0 on aggregate – at Tammelan Stadion on Tuesday, while Olga remained as an unused substitute.
