Nicolo Fagioli is set to start in attacking midfield for Juventus in tomorrow evening’s Serie A clash with Inter Milan.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They also anticipate starts for Danilo and Juan Cabal in defense.

The Derby d’Italia is always a showpiece occasion for Italian football. And as is so often the case, the fixture has the feel of a potential title-decider.

But both the Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri are going to have to prepare for this match without a number of key players.

For Juventus, there are three players above all who are currently on the treatment table.

These are Teun Koopmeiners, Douglas Luiz, and Nico Gonzalez.

The three summer signings are out with injuries and will not be able to return.

And the fact that Koopmeiners and Luiz are both midfielders mean that central areas in particular will present a challenge for Bianconeri coach Thiago Motta in his team selection.

When Koopmeiners has been fit, Motta has used the Dutchman as an attacking midfielder.

This has echoed the role that Koopmeiners played for Atalanta.

Meanwhile, Motta has also tried former Aston Villa and Girona midfielder Luiz in that position as well.

But with both of that duo absent, the Gazzetta report that Motta intends to go with Juventus youth academy graduate Fagioli in the role.

Then, behind Fagioli, two out of Manuel Locatelli, Khephren Thuram, and Weston McKennie will start.

Meanwhile, in attack the Gazzetta report that both of Pierre Kalulu and Andrea Cambiaso will start for Juventus tomorrow.

Danilo and Juan Cabal, meanwhile, are the favourites to complete the back four. They are ahead of Federico Gatti and Nicolo Savona.
