Luxembourg no doubt faces quite the challenge in taking on Sweden on Tuesday in UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 Qualifying play.

Sweden is ranked No. 5 in the world. However, Luxembourg has previous experience in facing giants in the women’s game, as it took on England in a friendly earlier this year.

The country lost 9-0 then and 4-0 against Sweden on Friday. Sweden had 71.2 percent of possession time in the match. Filippa Angeldahl started alongside Hanna Bennison and Rosa Kafaji in the Swedish midfield.

Filippa Angeldahl took the lead for Sweden in the 26th minute. The Real Madrid midfielder shot from outside of the box, hitting the upper left corner of the net. Four minutes later she had another shot on target, taking a rebound. She had one more shot on target in the second half in which the goalie had to make a diving save.

Johanna Rytting Kaneryd scored the second goal, doubling Sweden’s lead only five minutes after the first was scored. Sweden had two goals discounted, one in each half of the match. Stina Blackstenius had scored one of the two annulled goals, but in 81st minute she finally managed to get herself on the scoresheet. Evelyn Ijeh replaced Blackstenius one minute after scoring the third goal of the match and then proceeded to score another for Sweden in extra time.

Aside from Angeldahl’s attempts on goal, the midfielder also provided support in interceptions on the wings for Kaneryd and Hanna Lundkvist on the right-hand side. Angeldahl played 76 minutes.
