Napoli have submitted a €25 million bid to sign Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay, according to Gianluca DiMarzio.
The 2022/23 Scudetto winners are eager to bring the 27-year-old to Naples on loan with an obligation to buy next summer.
Manchester United are open to selling McTominay this transfer window despite manager Erik ten Hag stating that he wants to keep the midfielder.
However, Napoli’s bid won’t be enough to move the needle for the Red Devils as the club’s valuation for the midfielder is higher than the offer.
Per previous reports, United want €35 million and are prepared to hold onto the Scotland international star if suitors cannot meet their demands.
McTominay has played both United matches this season. He came on as a substitute in the Community Shield loss and last week’s 1-0 Premier League win over Fulham at Old Trafford.
Ten Hag described him as a great player following his winner against Aston Villa in February. The Man United academy graduate is a terrific option for the club, but the hierarchy must balance the books.
It remains to be seen whether Napoli will increase their offer for McTominay or if United will be willing to accept their initial bid.
Meanwhile, Man United continue to look for takers for Jadon Sancho. The England international returned to the club this summer and amended his relationship with Ten Hag.
However, the Dutch coach omitted Sancho from the matchday squad for the Fulham game.
Juventus approached United for a loan deal, but the Reds want to offload him permanently. Free-spending Chelsea could also enter the race for his signature.
On the other hand, Man United are still scouring the market for a defensive midfielder after refusing to meet Paris Saint-Germain’s demands for Manuel Ugarte.
The Uruguayan is not part of manager Luis Enrique’s plans, but PSG are prepared to play hardball.
