The father of Spain’s Euro 2024 sensation Lamine Yamal has suffered ‘serious’ injuries after being stabbed in a horror attack.
Mounit Nasraoui was reportedly stabbed in a car park in Mataró, a town in Catalonia and rushed to hospital. Spanish news outlet La Vanguardia report that Nasraoui’s condition was ‘serious’, although another report from Relevo claim he is now stable and recovering at home.
Three people have reportedly been arrested over the stabbing, with police looking for a fourth person allegedly involved in the attack.

The attack comes just weeks after Nasraoui, 35, witnessed his son become the youngest player to appear and score at a European Championship as 16-year-old Yamal helped propel Spain to Euro 2024 glory. The Barcelona star was a regular starter for his country and scored a crucial goal against France to help them reach the final, where they beat England.
Hailing from the Rocafonda neighbourhood in Mataro, about 30km east from the centre of Barcelona, Nasraoui migrated from Morocco to Spain at the age of nine and always believed his son was destined for footballing greatness.
“I knew about my son when he was born,” he said earlier this year. “I knew he was going to be a star. Whoever is a father knows it and any father wants his child to be the best.
“Not only in football, but also in the love [he gives] and as a person. He is a child and he has a blessing from God, which is very important and must be valued.”
At just 16 years and 50 days old, Yamal received his first international call-up before making his debut in Euro 2024 qualification against Georgia. After scoring on his debut, he set the record as Spain’s youngest ever player and goalscorer, beating the records set by his Barcelona teammate Gavi.
