UK. London Heathrow Airport has awarded Global Exchange the contract to manage currency exchange service across its four terminals from January 2026. It follows a full market tender for the business, with current provider Travelex exiting the business.
Global Exchange will manage 23 in-terminal bureaux. Its digital-led offer includes ATMs, cash to cash self-service dispensers, digital customer transaction screens with multilingual capability and online Click & Collect services.
The move enhances Global Exchange’s UK presence – it already operates at Bristol and London City airports, plus numerous central London locations.
A Heathrow statement said: “The agreement will see Global Exchange delivering a refreshed and enhanced currency exchange proposition throughout the airport. With a focus on customer service and digital solutions, Global Exchange is set to elevate customer experience for passengers with a wide range of currency needs.
“Combining in-terminal and online service offerings designed to support a smooth airport experience for Heathrow passengers, Global Exchange’s new proposition will provide travellers with enhanced choice and convenience both in preparation for, and during, their journeys.”
Heathrow Airport Retail Director Fraser Brown said: “Heathrow is delighted to welcome Global Exchange to the airport. As a result of its world-leading technology and dedication to customer service, Global Exchange has established itself as a recognised market leader.
“We look forward to the Global Exchange team joining Heathrow and delivering travel money products and services that will help us to make every journey better.”
Global Exchange Group President Isidoro J. Alanís said: “The opportunity to offer our services at Heathrow is a true milestone for Global Exchange. This reinforces and endorses our positioning as the world’s leading company in our sector.
“We are very excited for this project and ready to embark on this journey in partnership with a world-class airport, and we are especially committed to offering passengers an exceptional currency exchange experience, with the quality, innovation and professionalism that represents our brand.”
Heathrow Airport noted that Travelex “has been a committed and valued partner of Heathrow, providing customers with excellent service for the last 39 years”. ✈
